Veterans Promise Partners

The VetsSTOCK Concert Series is a unique initiative that brings the Woodstock spirit to the aid of our vets in distress. It began on Veterans Day 2008 at a bar called Roy’s in the Pittsburgh suburb of Finleyville under the “BurghSTOCK” banner. Since then, 60 Pittsburgh area bar bands and 27 national touring acts (including 5 members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame) have designated performances from Philly to Iowa City as fundraising performances that assist vets in need.

We’ve had help from a rather impressive array of major league supporters. Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Garth Hudson and Levon Helm of The Band got the ball rolling, first sending messages of support and, in Levon’s case, memorabilia to auction off. He was soon followed by authors Dennis McNally (publicist for the Grateful Dead and author of the only band authorized biography) and Doug Lubahn, bass player on most of the Doors records. Since then, Hall of Famers Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzman (with the Rhythm Devils), Max Weinberg and His Big Band, Kenny Loggins, Pure Prairie League (3x), Americana legends The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, jam band legends Little Feat (6x), David Bromberg, the New Riders of The Purple Sage (3x), ekoostik hookah (5x), Hall of Famer Donna Jean Godchaux Band with Jeff Mattson, Americana Song and Album of The Year winner James McMurtry, recent Oscar winner Ryan Bingham, Farm Aid vets The Supersuckers (2x), rising stars Yarn, Jonny Burke, and Jones For Revival (2x), Dark Star Orchestra, Great American Taxi (3x), The Paul Barrere and Fred Tackett Acoustic Duo (6x), the Buffalo Rose Band, Carlos Jones and the P.L.U.S. Band, The Band of Heathens and American Idol Taylor Hicks ( with hookah) have all designated performances from Philly to Iowa City as part of the deal.

The first VetsSTOCK performance was May 20, 2012, at the State Theatre in (Penn) State College PA, featuring Americana music legends The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Jam band legends Little Feat joined in June 9th in the Poconos, Slaid Cleaves on June 21st, Pure Prairie League makes their 4th appearance June 24th in Watseka, IL, and singer/storyteller non pariel Todd Snider gets on board June 30th.  Brandi Carlile, opening again this year for Dave Matthews, joins us August 11th in Louisville.

The VetsSTOCK name is available for use by qualified non-profits throughout our corporate footprint states. Please contact us for further information.
